Kumho Electric, a leading lighting company, has joined hands with Korea Sign to advance into the transparent LED display (Digital Signage Integrated System) market.

According to Kumho Electric on the 25th, the two companies signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) focusing on cooperation in next-generation transparent LED display technology and sales. The partnership is part of Kumho Electric’s strategy to diversify its business portfolio and secure new growth engines for the future.

Unlike conventional billboards, transparent LED displays feature see-through panels that naturally blend into their surroundings, offering a sense of openness and spatial harmony. They can be produced in various shapes and sizes to deliver digital content more attractively, while flexible curved installations enable creative and dynamic visual effects. The displays also align with the current ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) trend by reducing power consumption by over 50% compared to traditional billboards, enhancing energy efficiency.

A Kumho Electric official stated,

“Transparent LED displays not only deliver remarkable visual performance but also provide significant energy savings. Buildings equipped with these displays can enhance aesthetics and spatial utilization, becoming new local landmarks,” adding,
“With growing interest in innovative video marketing and the spread of artistic, dynamic digital content, transparent LED displays will help maximize visual impact.”

Celebrating its 90th anniversary this year, Kumho Electric is one of Korea’s leading lighting manufacturers. Since 2023, the company has been implementing energy-saving projects for buildings, offices, and large indoor spaces through its ‘Bulkkyo Smart Mesh System.’ This system enables real-time monitoring of power usage across multiple areas of a building and minimizes wasted energy in unused spaces through a centralized PC control program.

Founded in 2010, Korea Sign specializes in both indoor and outdoor display solutions, offering integrated capabilities from design and engineering to production. With 15 patents—including energy-saving modules—and strong expertise in media art production, the company has executed large-scale transparent display projects such as the Alpha Dome City Culture Valley and Busan Museum One (Wolseok Art Hall). Its proven track record includes projects for COEX, POSCO, and major department stores.

A Kumho Electric representative added,
